Be Careful When Taking a Compliment

Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.

Hebrews 10:24

Sometimes you shouldn’t heed too much advice from friends and family. It may be too biased. “I have a good deal of good news from New York; but, of course, it is from friends and is one-sided,” Lincoln told his wife. So he took the news only half-heartedly, knowing that the truth might not be such good news. When you take a compliment from a friend, make sure you don’t put too much weight on it. Look a little deeper and weigh all your options before going on the advice of those who like you. The news may not be so good when you find out what others are saying.
