Week 40 Day 5
Willpower
I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.
Job 19:25–26
Though worms may waste this with ’ring clay,
When flesh and spirit sever;
My soul shall see eternal day,
And dwell with God for ever.
Do you sometimes wish you had more education? Maybe if you had learned a little more, graduated, or gone after that next degree, you could have achieved more in life. Abraham Lincoln was proof that a good education costs nothing. He was evidence that one doesn’t have to be wealthy to learn. He had very little in terms of money and resources, even as an adult. But he took every opportunity to teach himself, through books, newspapers, and mostly, through experience. He was self-educated. Isn’t all learning ultimately self-education? We all know people who’ve attended the “best” schools but never learned much. And then there’s the successful small businessman who never finished high school but learned a trade and made the best of himself. “In this country one can scarcely be so poor but that, if he will, he can acquire sufficient education to get through the world respectably,” wrote Lincoln. If you want the best education, it’s never too late, and you can get started today. It takes time, not money.
