Week 42 Day 4

On Kindness

By him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Acts 13:39

Jesus, thy blood and righteousness

My beauty are, and glorious dress;

’Midst flaming worlds, in these array’d,

With joy shall I lift up my head.

“My first impression of Abe Lincoln was made by one of his kind deeds,” said a lady in Springfield, Illinois. Her story teaches a simple lesson about kindness. She was going on her first railroad trip but failed to call for her trunk. “I realized, in a panic of grief, that I would miss the train,” she said. “I was standing by the gate, my hat and gloves on, sobbing as if my heart would break, when Mr. Lincoln came by. He asked me, ‘What’s the matter?’ at which time I explained my dilemma. Before I knew what he was going to do, he had shouldered the trunk and was striding out of the yard. Down the street he went, fast as his long legs could carry him, I trotting behind, drying my tears as I went. We reached the station in time. Mr. Lincoln put me on the train, kissed me good-bye, and told me to have a good time.” Lincoln didn’t seek to impress with intellect or prowess but with kindness. His simple acts of kindness impressed upon others that his heart and motives were pure. The next time you seek to impress, try an act of kindness.
