Week 43 Day 1
See Past Your Problems
If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:17
Pronounce me, gracious God, thy son;
Own me an heir divine;
I’ll pity princes on the throne,
When I can call thee mine:
Sceptres and crowns unenvied rise,
And lose their lustre in mine eyes.
“I suppose you found it necessary to make large concessions to Governor Blank as he returned from you perfectly satisfied,” said an angry cabinet member. “Oh, no,” President Lincoln replied, “I did not concede anything to the governor. Have you heard how that Illinois farmer got rid of a big log that was too big to haul out, too knotty to split, and too wet and soggy to burn? He ploughed around it,” said Lincoln. “Now don’t tell anybody, but that’s the way I got rid of Governor Blank. I ploughed all round him, but it took me three hours to do it, and I was afraid every minute he’d see what I was up to.” Lincoln never let a problem stop him. If he couldn’t find a way through it, he found a way around it. Do you let problems stop you? Try Lincoln’s approach before giving up. See past your problems and find a way around them.
