Watch Out for Disloyalties

Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Assure my conscience of her part

In the Redeemer’s blood,

And bear thy witness in my heart

That I am born of God.

President Lincoln once used the Bible to give a lesson on loyalty and devotion. He was concerned he might ultimately be betrayed, possibly by a good friend. When a colleague dismissed Lincoln’s concerns, Lincoln reminded him, “The Savior of the world chose twelve disciples, and even one of that small number, selected by superhuman wisdom, turned out a traitor and a devil.” Lincoln knew anyone could succumb to the power of sin. If Judas, a friend and eyewitness to the Son of God, could give him up for silver, certainly Lincoln too was at risk. Be careful not to trust too much. Know that disloyalty and a lack of devotion could be the very things that cause your demise.
