Week 45 Day 2

Don’t Give Dishonesty a Chance

Grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:30

Forbid it, Lord, that we

Who from thy hands receive

The Spirit’s power to make us free,

Should e’er that Spirit grieve.

O keep our faith alive,

Help us to watch and pray;

Lest, by our carelessness, we drive

The sacred Guest away.

What’s the best way to find the truth of a matter? Lincoln simply demanded it. He never gave his adversaries a chance to skirmish around the issue. He was pointed, frank, and forthright. Once when confronted with a possible lie, Lincoln told the man squarely, “You are compelled to speak; and your only alternative is to tell the truth or tell a lie. I cannot doubt which you would do.” The man acquiesced and told the truth. If you make it plain that you won’t stand for anything but the truth, everyone around you will acquiesce too. For those who stand for truth and righteousness, you cannot doubt what others will do.
