Week 49 Day 1
God Is Sovereign
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3
Oh the rich depths of love divine!
Of bliss a boundless store!
Dear Saviour, let me call thee mine,
I cannot wish for more.
Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen. Despite our earnest prayers and good intentions, things don’t always go as we’d want. During the depths of the Civil War, when all seemed lost, Abraham Lincoln reminded the country that God’s will always reigns supreme. “We are indeed going through a trial—a fiery trial. In the very responsible position in which I happen to be placed, being a humble instrument in the hands of our heavenly Father, as I am, and as we all are, to work out His great purposes, I have desire that all my works and acts may be according to His will; and that it might be so, I have sought His aid—but if after endeavoring to do my best in the light which He affords me, I find my efforts fail, I must believe that for some purpose unknown to me, He wills it otherwise.” When all seems lost, remember that God’s purpose reigns supreme. You can trust God.
