Week 49 Day 4

God Gives a Way

Brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

Acts 20:32

From earth we shall quickly remove,

And mount to our native abode;

The house of our Father above,

The palace of angels and God.

In June 1862 Congressman James F. Wilson brought a delegation to the White House to discuss the conduct of the war and the way it ought to be won. There was considerable concern about the way in which Lincoln was leading the nation in war. Among other things, Lincoln explained to the delegation how God would help find a way. “But I also believe that he will compel us to do right in order that he may do these things,” said Lincoln, “and I think he means that we shall do more than we have yet done in furtherance of his plans, and he will open the way for our doing it. I have felt his hand upon me in great trials and submitted to his guidance, and I trust that as he shall further open the way, I will be ready to walk therein, relying on his help and trusting in his goodness and wisdom.” Lincoln relied on God to help find a way through the war. As you trust God, he will make a way for you too.
