Base rnd, each side: Multiple of 6 + 3 + corner sts.

Begin 2 sts to left of corner st.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, placing 3 sc in each corner st, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, *ch 3, Picot-6, ch 3, skip 3 sts**, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, sc in last st, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc, *3 sc in next ch-3 space, fold Picot-6 to front and sc into base of picot, 3 sc in next ch-3 space, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around, omitting last sc, join with slip st to first sc. Fasten off.

In order to work base-round stitches evenly along an edge, fold the edge in half and place a marker to indicate the center. Open it up and fold both ends in to meet at the center; place a marker at both of these folds. You now have three markers and four equal sections. Keep folding the sections together and placing markers at the halfway point as many times as needed. Now you can work the same number of stitches in each section and know that the stitches will be evenly spaced along the entire edge.
