Tr2tog: (Yarn over) two times, insert hook into indicated stitch or space and pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) two times, (yarn over) two times, insert hook into next stitch or space and pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Ch 9, sc in 3rd ch from hook and in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, (dc, hdc) in next ch, sc in last ch.

CURLY LEAF 2

Ch 9, sc in 3rd ch from hook and in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr2tog over next 2 ch, dc in next ch.

MEDIUM LEAF

Ch 8, sc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next ch, tr2tog over next 2 ch, dc in next ch, hdc in last ch.

SMALL LEAF 1

Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, hdc in next ch.

SMALL LEAF 2

Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc2tog over next 2 ch, sc in next ch.

Base rnd, each side: Multiple of 6 + 1 + corner sts.

Begin 6 sts to left of corner st.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, placing 3 sc in each corner st; join with slip st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in next 2 sc, [make flower**, dc in next 3 sc] to corner st, (2 dc, ch 1, dc) in corner st; rotating piece clockwise, ch 5, (sc, ch 5, sc) under post of dc just completed, ch 5, (sc, ch 5, sc) under post of next dc, (ch 5, sc) two times in corner ch-1 space, ch 5, slip st in base of first ch-5 petal — corner flower made, dc in same corner sc and in next sc; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with slip st to top of ch-3.

Rnd 3: Vary the leaf type and placement for best effect. Ch 1, sc in same st and in next 2 dc, *[sc in next st, make one leaf, slip st in same st, skip ch-1 space, slip st in next dc, make one leaf, sc in same st — two leaves joined, sc in next 3 sts] to 1 st before corner flower, sc in next dc, join two leaves in next st, skip ch-1 space, join one leaf in next st, sc in next 4 dc; rep from * around, join with slip st to first sc. Fasten off.
