Wednesday 19 November

I am… EXHAUSTED.

I was too tired to write yesterday – there is so much you have to learn about making toys.

Where to start? Yesterday morning, I suppose…

As soon as we arrived for our second day, Steinar tested us with the Spirit Gauge. He seemed very happy with Holly and Max’s readings, but when it came to me it went haywire.

Maybe there’s something wrong with me.

After that we learned aeronautics, electromagnetism, palaeontology and fluid dynamics.

Then we had lunch in the canteen. Unfortunately Max chose a table with only two spaces, so I had to sit on my own.

In the afternoon, we studied classical mechanics, quantum theory and how to make a zip. Making a zip was definitely the most complicated.

Holly got hers a bit snarled up and I tried to help her, but Max said she could manage very well on her own, thank you.

It’s like he doesn’t want us to be friends.

I think he’s worried that if she makes friends with me, she won’t be friends with him. But that’s silly. We can all be friends together.

I guess he isn’t as confident as he looks.

Plus, it can’t be easy for him, working in what used to be his dad’s factory.

Which brings me to today.

As well as all the other things Steinar explained, we learned something I was very interested in indeed: soft toy construction.

It’s pretty much the same method I was using to make all the lemurs, except all the pieces for the toy are designed on a computer, measured precisely and sewn on a machine.

That way every toy you make is exactly the same, which I think is very clever.

Now I know what I’m going to make as my showstopper: a lemur.

But this one is going to be made the correct way!

Holly’s making a drone, which is a good choice.

I asked Max what he was going to make, and he said to mind my own business.
