Chapter Eighty-Five

We spent the time we had before the reception giving Karen’s sister Lori a tour of Montego Bay. We stopped at a couple of open air bars and listened to the Reggae music while sipping tropical rum drinks.

Like I’d said earlier we would take for granted things we thought Juan had experienced in life. A city like Montego Bay was a new experience to him. He was far more amazed than Lori was of the atmosphere. Juan had come from a down trodden country where the yearly income was less than $2,000. He looked at everything in amazement, open eyed not believing a world like this could exist without him knowing about it. It made me realize how much we had to show Juan and how much he had to learn. I couldn’t wait until we were able to take him to Disney World.

Looking at my watch I saw it was time to head on over to the reception. “We better get going or we’ll be keeping our guests waiting.”

We climbed back into the limo and it weaved its way back to our hotel honking its horn the whole way.

“Karen, we have to be on our toes tonight,” I said looking at her to make sure she was taking me seriously.

“Why is that Honey?” she asked.

“We have our team the Sea Demons inside with thirty of their fellow Seals. You know they have something planned for us. It’s just a matter of time before we find out what it is.”

We arrived back at our reception hall and got out of the limo. I didn’t see the smiles that passed between my brother and Juan.

We walked into the hall to a chorus of catcalls and whistles. The band was setting up on the stage. We’d picked a rock band that would also play reggae music.

I saw Dean Scott talking to Brady and Patch and walked over to thank him for coming. Karen had gone the other way to talk to some of her invited guests.

“Dean, thanks a lot for coming on down to Montego Bay for our special day,” I said as I held out my hand. “Are you taking one of the rooms in the hotel or are you staying on our isle?”

“Against my better judgment I’m staying with Brady on your isle,” the DEA section leader admitted. “You sure put some fangs on the helicopter you stole from me,” he said, changing the subject.

“Stole is some pretty strong language Dean. I prefer to say we just talked you out of it.”

“I guess I won’t complain too much about the helicopter Rick. I got a hell of a promotion out of the deal,” Dean admitted.

Dean had been in charge of the DEA in Florida. After the fallout from the battle with the pirates he got promoted to the agent in charge of the entire eastern seaboard.

I saw Rusty Patterson, our gun dealer sitting with his wife. I saw Doc come in with some of the other team members. I went over by Karen to let her know he was here.

“We’d better talk to Doc before he gets drinking and pulls down another chandelier,” I told Karen.

The two of us walked over to the group and pulled Doc off to the side for a heart to heart talk.

“Doc, I’m giving you fair warning. If you get up on a chandelier tonight I’m going to shoot you!”

“Come on LT, we both know you wouldn’t shoot me over something like that,” Doc laughed confidently.

“Let me show you something Doc,” I said as I pulled out my handgun and dropped out the clip. “Do you see that first round?”

“Yeah, what the hell is that?” Doc said, looking the round over closely. “I never saw a bullet that looked like that before.”

“It’s a rubber bullet. I have one in the chamber and the first one in the magazine is rubber. The rest are all lead. I gave every member of our team two bullets just like it. It you get up on a damn chandelier tonight we’re going to fill you so full of rubber you’ll bounce for a week!”

Doc looked over his shoulder and spotted the looks of anticipation the other team members had on their faces.

“Doc, if I shoot you where I’ll be aiming, you’re going to wish it was lead instead of just rubber,” Karen promised him.

“Ha, with that fancy wedding dress you’re wearing you can’t possibly be packing your gun,” Doc said with a grin.

Karen pulled up the hem of her wedding dress and showed Doc her ankle holster. “You know the rules Doc. The only time you don’t physically have your gun on you is when you’re sleeping or when you’re in the shower, and then it better be within easy reach. ”

“Now that just ain’t right! Taking a fellers fun away like that! And you Karen, threatening to shoot me in such a tender spot! You all should be ashamed of yourself to even be thinking of aiming there! That’s all I got to say about it.”

“Here’s another word of warning for you Doc. You know how enthusiastic these boys get when they have something to shoot at. I only gave each of them two rubber bullets. If they have a couple too many, they may forget they ran out of rubber and put a hollow point into you.”

Doc looked at the two of us darkly. “You all deserve each other! I’ve never been so insulted and humiliated in all of my born days! Why don’t you just shoot me now and put me out of my misery!” Doc grumbled as he stomped away.

The other team members were laughing at Doc’s expense.

“Doc, I got a twenty dollar bill that says you can’t last five seconds on that chandelier,” Scott laughed.

“You all better watch it. I don’t have any of them rubber bullets. I’m just as likely to shoot you out of spite! I used to think you were my friends, Ha! A sadder bunch I’ve never been around!”

“Come on Doc, you don’t really want to ruin LT and Karen’s reception by breaking another chandelier,” Brady laughed.

“If you were athletic like me, you’d realize you can end up in places like that without even knowing its happening. But seeing as you’re a lazy good for nothing flyboy it could never happen to you.”

“Doc, he don’t believe how easy it is for you to get into places like that, show him how easy it is,” Sam encouraged their medic.

“Nice try Sam, you just want a chance to shoot me because of the way I dug that bullet out of your ass.”

We walked away and left the bickering group behind us and went to mingle with our guests. Juan was goofing off on the dance floor with the other kids from the isle.

We had our food set up on four islands. Every hour the kitchen staff would remove the food that was there and put another type of food out for our guests to sample at their leisure. The first course was appetizers and finger food. The second one was mini sandwiches and fruits. For the third we’d picked out build your own tacos. The fourth was the main course of seafood with side dishes to compliment it and the last one was desserts.

“Juan,” I yelled and gave a shrill whistle. “Come on over here we need you to help lead our conga line.”

Juan left his friends on the dance floor and hurried over by us. “What is a conga line Rick?” Juan asked.

“Well the best way I can explain it is its kind of a train. Karen is going to lead it. You grab her hips and follow along. I’ll grab your hips and do the same thing. Others will join in until we have a long line of dancers weaving around the ballroom.”

“I don’t think I want to do that. It sounds like it will be embarrassing,” Juan said self consciously.

“Come on and try it. You’re a part of this family now and will be expected to act as goofy as the rest of us do,” I explained as I messed up his hair.

“Alright if I have to,” Juan said reluctantly. “I have to grab Karen by the waist?”

“Just grab a hold of my hips Juan and do like I do, it’ll come easy to you once you see it.”

I signaled the band to start the music and we were off. Karen took off thru the crowd with Juan hanging on for dear life. I had him by his hips following along behind kicking up my heels.

“Hey look guys, they’ve got a conga line going, charge,” Brady said as he led the group in a mad rush to join in.

“Yahoo,” Patch shouted as he joined in on the weaving line. “Come on boys, Cha-cha, cha-cha, cha-cha!”

“Lead the way Karen,” Doc whooped. “Go once more around the hall cha-cha.”

“Look out Doc, I’ll show you some moves you can tell your grandkids about!” Brady yelled grinning wildly.

Karen finally shut the conga line down. “Well what did you think of that Juan?”

“I’m still learning American slang. I think it was what you would call corny. But it was kind of funny with all of my goofy uncles involved,” Juan said a little red faced from embarrassment. “The next time I see a conga line forming I’m going to run and hide.”

“I’ll send Patch to find you,” Karen warned, smiling. “Then I’ll make you lead it.”

“Brady is calling me Karen,” Juan said looking across the room. “I’d better go and see what he wants.”

“Chris, give me your spare room key,” Brady demanded. “You have Juan staying with you tonight right?”

“Here you go Brady. If you get caught I don’t know anything,” Chris warned. “And yes Juan is staying with me.”

“Sam, do you have your tools along?” Brady asked. “We’ll be screwed if you forgot them.”

“They’re in the trunk of my car. We’d better leave one at a time. If LT sees us leaving together he might catch on to us.”

“Juan, did you remember to bring the cornflakes for their bed?” Doc asked the boy.

“No, cornflakes didn’t seem important enough to use on an officer. So I brought Captain Crunch instead!”

“That’s my boy, I’m so proud of you! You’re cunning just like I was when I was your age,” Doc said with pride.

“Brady, how are we going to get into LT and Karen’s whirlpool suite?” Sam asked.

“I bribed one of the desk clerks. I gave them a fifty dollar bill and they made me a spare key. Everyone in Montego Bay knows we’re all part of the same team so she knew we weren’t trying to rob them.”

Soon Brady, Patch, Sam, Doc and Juan were inside the honeymoon suite. “LT has been watching us all night like a hawk,” Brady complained.

“I can’t blame him for that,” Patch said, acting as lookout. “He’s got to know we’re going to try something before the night is over.”

“Sam, how are you coming with the plumbing?” Brady asked. “We got to get out of here before they realize we’re missing from the party.”

“Almost done, the only thing working in this room is the cold water. Shower, sink and hot tub are all without hot water.”

“Okay let’s move on over next door to Chris’s room now,” Doc said, rubbing his hands together in delight.

“Juan, get on that side of the bed and carefully pull back the covers,” Doc instructed.

Juan was grinning wildly at the fun he was having helping out his new uncles with the prank. “Do you want me to cover the whole bed with cereal Doc?”

“Sure cover the whole thing. Make sure you don’t spill any on the floor though,” Doc warned.

Juan poured the cereal over the entire king sized bed and spread it out evenly with his hands. “Now what do we do?”

“We have to make the bed up just the way it was. We have to make sure there aren’t any lumps in it from the cereal.”

“Hurry up, how are you coming Sam,” Brady asked nervously as he looked at his watch to see how much time had gone by.

“The hot water is all turned off. Now all we have to do is replace the good light bulbs in the bedroom with these burnt out ones we brought along.”

“Okay Patch, we’re done,” Brady whispered. “Let’s go out the back door just to make sure we aren’t caught.”

The five trickled back into the reception hall one at a time and mingled back in with their friends.

It was after one and the band finally wound down. Everyone was sticking around. No one wanted the night to end. Finally Karen and I announced we were going to our room and our guests finally started to filter out. We walked to our whirlpool suite with Chris and Juan following behind heading to their room next door.

“We’ll see you in the morning Rick,” Chris said yawning. “If you’re not up in the morning I’ll take Juan down to the restaurant for breakfast.”

“Thanks for taking care of Juan tonight Chris,” I said. “Behave yourself for your uncle,” I said to Juan as I closed our door.

“I turned to Karen and looked at her with anticipation in my eyes. “Alone at last, I didn’t think our guests would ever leave.”

“You have a lot of ribbons on your naval uniform Rick. How would you like to get out of that uniform and earn another one,” Karen asked mischievously.

“That’s the best offer I’ve had all day,” I said as I lowered my head and kissed her lips gently. I turned on the water to our Jacuzzi and turned back to her and helped her to undress slowly savoring every moment. Soon we were both naked and intertwined kissing passionately. I eased Karen over towards the Jacuzzi and we lifted out legs over into the water.

“Whoa! Rick you didn’t turn on the hot water,” Karen said jerking her leg out of the spa as she shivered from the icy water.

“I did turn on the hot water.” I checked and found out there wasn’t any hot water. I tried the shower and the sink as well, everything was cold. I looked longingly at Karen’s ridged nipples. “Are you cold or just happy to see me?”

“Very funny mister, you better get someone here to fix this. I’ve been looking forward to spending time with you in this tub all night long.”

I called the front desk and found out maintenance didn’t have anyone on duty during the night.

“There isn’t anyone on duty that can fix the plumbing tonight Karen,” I tried explaining to her.

“Your brother Chris has a hot tub in his room. Go talk to him and trade rooms,” Karen ordered.

“Yes dear,” I said looking longingly at what I was missing.

Chris picked up the ringing phone on the third ring. He didn’t want to appear too eager.

“Chris, I have a big favor to ask you. We don’t have any hot water in our room can we trade rooms with you for the night?”

“Sure Rick, Juan and I will toss our things into our bags and be right over,” my brother promised.

“Throw on your robe and grab your bag Karen. Chris and Juan will be right over.”

Chris turned to Juan and gave him a high five. “We’re in business, this is going to be fun,” Chris said in anticipation.

“Here’s my room key Rick, we’ll see you in the morning,” Chris said as he handed it to me.

We were now in Chris’s suite and I turned on the water in our Jacuzzi. Our robes slowly slipped down to the floor while I kissed Karen and moaned in anticipation of the night to come.

Chris and Juan opened the door to their room and peeked down the hallway. The others were waiting for the all safe signal. Soon the group of six was listening at the newlywed’s door.

“Rick, there isn’t any hot water in this one either,” Karen said in disbelief.

“It has to be the Sea Demons. We’ve been set-up. I told you we had to watch out for them.”

“I didn’t think we had to put an armed guard in our hotel room,” Karen said moodily.

“Well, I’m not going to let them get the better of me,” I said with determination.

“What are you going to do?” Karen asked.

“What are we going to do you mean,” I said. “We are going to get into this cold tub like nothing is wrong. I’ll be damned if I’m going to let them ruin my wedding night.”

“Are you crazy? The water has to be around fifty degrees, we’ll freeze,” Karen stated.

I took Karen into my arms and embraced her, kissing my way down her neck. “I can think of ways for us to keep warm.”

The two of us were in this together. One of the things that had drawn me to Karen is she’s always a trooper. She would never shy away from a challenge. Slowly we lowered ourselves into the freezing water and I turned on the water jets. Instantly Karen’s nipples came to attention and I rubbed my thumbs over them while feasting on her lips.

“Rick, I don’t know how long I can last in here. I can’t feel my toes anymore,” Karen admitted with a shiver as she reached between my legs. “Where did it go?” She asked in surprise.

“It found somewhere else to go where it’s warm,” I said.

“I’ve got to get out of this water,” Karen said as she stood up. “Let’s get into bed and warm each other up,” she offered.

“That’s the second best offer I’ve had all day,” I said as I got out of the freezing water. I walked over to the suites bedroom and turned on the lights, nothing happened. “That’s just great!”

“We don’t need any lights honey. We know where all the parts are,” Karen promised me.

We stood on each side of the bed and pulled down the comforter and slid in looking to get warm, instead we got cereal.

I could feel the cereal crunching and sticking to my body as I rolled over and faced Karen. “Well how are you enjoying your night to remember so far?”

“I’m going to kill them,” Karen threatened. “They are going to suffer a slow agonizing death.”

“I’m not going to let a few corn flakes ruin my plans for you Mrs. Chambers, come on over here.”

“Brady, do you hear anything?” Patch asked as he leaned closer to the door to hear.

“Quiet, I just heard a yelp. They must have found the cold water you left them with Sam,” Brady laughed.

The group stood listening at the door for over an hour. “This isn’t any fun,” Juan complained. “I thought something good would happen by now.”

“You have to be patient Juan. These things take time to develop,” Doc said knowingly.

“Mmmm, that was kinky Mr. Chambers. I’ve never done it in cereal before,” Karen said nibbling my earlobe.

“I have to get up Karen. My whole body is itching from this cereal,” I said as I rolled out of the bed. I walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. “Karen, come in here,” I said in disbelief.

“What’s the matter, Rick?” Karen asked as she came up behind me.

“Look, our bodies have turned orange from the cereal!” I yelled out in anger.

The group at the door heard the announcement and was grinning wildly. Juan started to laugh out loud with delight. “Juan, quiet,” Brady warned putting his hand over Juan’s mouth.

I heard the laugh outside of our door and looked at Karen. “Put on your robe Karen, we have visitors.”

“What are you going to do to them Rick?” Karen said as she slipped her robe over her naked body.

“I’m going to give them a taste of their own medicine,” I said as I grabbed the waste basket from under the sink. I walked over to the spa and filled the basket up full and walked over to the door. I gave Karen a nod to open the door and she yanked it open.

I caught the group flat footed. They were all crouched down listening. The container of water caught all of them square in the face. Juan was in front of the group, water dripping off of his chin.

“You are supposed to be on my side little man,” I informed him as I reached out and grabbed him by the front of his shirt and dragged him towards the cold spa.

“Help,” he called out to his co-conspirators. “Don’t let him throw me in the tub.”

“Sorry Juan, you’re on your own buddy,” Brady said reluctantly.

Juan tried to fight as I dragged him towards the spa. “You like cold water, here have some,” I said, launching him into the spa and dunking him under water.

Juan came up spitting and sputtering. “It wasn’t my fault Rick, Honest! They made me do it,” Juan said pointing at the wet group in the doorway.

I looked up at the group, my eyes going to mere slits as I planned my revenge.

“Get them Rick,” Karen ordered pointing at the culprits. “Don’t let them get away.”

Doc looked at me advancing on them. “It’s every man for himself, run!” he yelled, leading the mad rush down the hallway with me on their heels.

Juan sat in the tub laughing at the mad chase. Karen reached over and dunked him back under water. “You’re going to have to learn not to let your uncles get you into trouble.”

I chased them out into the parking lot before returning to my hotel room and a ringing phone. “Hello,” I said sharply into the phone, still angry at my team.

“Rick, this is Bob Hale, how fast can you get to Washington?” The National Security Advisor asked me.
