snacks

Snacks provide children with important boosts of energy and are another good opportunity to give them more nutrients. Many children need to eat three small meals each day, supplemented by one or two small snacks rather than just three large meals. Most children are ready for a snack at the end of the school day, which bridges the hunger gap until dinner.

The snacks in this section all provide immunity-boosting nutrients as well as energy. The fruit kebabs and vegetable platter are fun ways to encourage children to eat more of these foods; the recipes containing dried fruit provide iron; and our pitta bread and tortilla crisps are lower in salt and much lower in fat than their commercial, mass-produced equivalents.
