Garlic Cheese Spread

This was a favorite recipe of Anne Van Dyke, Louis’ mom. She and Louis’ dad had a favorite restaurant in Savannah where a garlic cheese spread was served, but the owners refused to give Mom the recipe. She went home and kept toying with various ingredients until she created her own recipe, and everyone though it was much better than the restaurant’s.

2 (8-ounce) packages softened cream cheese

1 (16-ounce) jar Cheez Whiz

10 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic

In a food processor or mixer blend together the cream cheese and the Cheez Whiz until smooth. Add the cheddar cheese and the minced garlic. Blend until smooth. Place in a serving dish, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Serve with crackers or toast points.

Hint: This is delicious served on warm French bread and also as a condiment with steaks.
