Family-Favorite Layered Salad

1 medium head of lettuce, shredded

½ cup thinly sliced green onions

1 cup thinly sliced celery

1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts

1 (10-ounce) package frozen peas, not thawed

2 cups mayonnaise

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

½ cup Parmesan cheese

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon seasoned salt

3 hard-cooked eggs, chopped

½ to ¾ pound bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled

Cherry tomatoes

Spread the shredded lettuce in a shallow dish. Top with a layer of green onions, a layer of celery, and a layer of water chestnuts and peas. Spread the mayonnaise over all. In a small mixing bowl combine the sugar, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Sprinkle on top of the layered ingredients. Cover and chill for at least 24 hours. Before serving, garnish the salad with the eggs, bacon, and cherry tomatoes.
