Bourbon Sauce

Pour this sauce over bread pudding, rice pudding, and even ice cream. For a little variety, substitute Scotch whiskey for bourbon.

½ cup (1 stick) butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 egg, well beaten

¼ cup bourbon

In the microwave oven heat the butter and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Add the egg and whisk rapidly so that the egg does not scramble. Add the bourbon and mix. Cool and serve.

YIELD: ABOUT 1 CUP
