Savannah Red Rice

4 cups rice

6 slices bacon

1 medium onion, chopped

1 small red bell pepper

1 (28-ounce) can tomatoes, undrained

1 (14-ounce) jar ketchup

2 ounces bacon grease

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

Dash of black pepper

Tabasco sauce

Preheat the oven to 350°. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Drain the rice. In a large skillet on medium high heat fry the bacon until it is crisp. Chop the bacon. Sauté the onion and bell pepper in the bacon grease. In a medium-size mixing bowl combine the rice, bacon, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, ketchup, bacon grease, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Tabasco to taste. Mix well and pour into a casserole dish. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until bubbly.
