Betty Whitman’s Hamburger Casserole
1 cup uncooked macaroni
1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons ketchup
3 tablespoons dry onion soup mix
¼ teaspoon salt
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
Cook the macaroni according to package directions. Drain. In a large skillet on medium heat brown the ground beef. After the beef has browned, add the ketchup, onion soup mix, salt, tomato sauce, and the drained macaroni. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°. Pour the ground beef mixture into a casserole dish and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese browns.
Hint: Add a can of mixed vegetables or a can of vegetable soup for a different dish that makes a meal.
