Ground Chuck Casserole

1 (12-ounce) package egg noodles

1 large onion, chopped

2 tablespoons bacon drippings

2 pounds ground chuck

1 (15-ounce) can sweet peas, not drained

1 (10¾-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

1 (10¾-ounce) can condensed cream of tomato soup, undiluted

1 teaspoon salt

4 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese

Prepare the noodles as directed on the package. Preheat the oven to 350°. In a large pan on medium heat lightly brown the onion in the bacon drippings. In a frying pan on medium-high heat cook the ground chuck until no longer pink. Add the chuck to the onion. Add the peas with their juice, the condensed soups, and salt. Drain the prepared noodles and add to the mixture. Stir lightly and pour into a casserole dish. Top with the cheese and bake for about 30 minutes or until bubbly.
