Ham and Cheese Pie

This is a delicious dish to serve at a brunch or ladies’ luncheon. It is wonderful with the addition of a few slices of melon on the plate. This dish is perfect to serve during the holidays since it can be prepared ahead of time. While it is baking, you can visit with family or friends.

1 plus 1 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 (9-inch) uncooked deep-dish piecrust

¾ plus ¾ cup cooked ham, chopped

⅓ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 cup milk

4 eggs

Preheat the oven to 350°. Sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese in the bottom of the pastry shell. Sprinkle ¾ cup of the ham on top of the cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining 1 cup cheese and ¾ cup ham. In a medium-size bowl combine the flour and pepper. Gradually stir in the milk. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating the mixture well after each egg. Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.
