This recipe was sent to us by the first lady of Florida, Columba Bush. It is the favorite snack dip of Governor Jeb Bush, who says there is nothing better after a long day than relaxing with the family. Hopefully your family will enjoy this recipe as much as the Bush family.
1 (8-ounce) container sour cream
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup chopped celery
½ cup chopped onion
Juice of 1 lemon
Cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper
1 (4½-ounce) can shrimp, drained
In a medium-size bowl blend the sour cream and cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the celery and the onion. Add the lemon juice. Add the cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to taste. Mash the shrimp and add them to the mixture. Cover and refrigerate for several hours before serving. Serve with crackers or chips of your choice. This recipe can be prepared two days in advance.
