½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
⅓ cup butter, melted
2 squares semisweet chocolate, melted
½ cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond flavoring
Preheat the oven to 350°. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add the eggs, butter, and chocolate. Add the pecans and vanilla or almond flavoring. Stir with a wooden spoon until the ingredients are mixed, but do not overmix. Pour into a greased 8 × 8-inch baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat before the brownies are done and let them settle a few minutes before removing them from the oven. Set aside to cool completely before cutting.
