1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
½ cup shortening
3 cups granulated sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup milk
¼ cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 325°. In a mixing bowl beat the butter, shortening, and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time. Beat for 1 minute after each egg. In another bowl sift the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt together three times. Add this to the butter mixture alternately with the milk and sour cream. Add the vanilla and beat for 1 minute. Pour into a greased tube pan. Bake for 1 hour at 325°. Reduce the heat to 300° and bake for 15 minutes more. Remove from the oven and cool for 1 hour before removing from the pan.
