¾ plus ¾ cups graham cracker crumbs
6 tart baking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
½ cup water
½ cup molasses
¼ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350°. Sprinkle ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs onto the bottom of an 8 × 8-inch baking dish. Place half of the sliced apples on top of the crumbs, and repeat the layering with the remaining ¾ cup crumbs and remaining apple slices. In a small bowl mix the water, molasses, brown sugar, and butter. Add the cinnamon and mix. Pour this mixture evenly over the apples and graham cracker crumbs. Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more.
