Geibel, Adam
American, 1885–1933. A native of Germany, he came to the United States as a child but suffered the misfortune of going blind at age eight. He became known as an organist, conductor, and composer, and he formed his own publishing company. “Kentucky Babe” was one of his most popular songs, and “Sleep, Sleep, Sleep” became well known as the theme song for many years of the Fred Waring radio program. He frequently used the pen name “Walter G. Tyler.”
