Gower, John Henry
English-born American, 1855–1922. Born in Warwickshire, he first served as assistant organist at Windsor Castle at age twelve. He later received his bachelor of music and doctor of music degrees from Oxford University and became organist and music master at Trent College, Nottingham. Emigrating to America to pursue a mining career, he settled in Denver, Colorado. There he continued his activities as a church musician and choirmaster.
