Keeler, J. J.
LDS. American, 1913–1996. Born in Provo, Utah, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Brigham Young University. He studied privately with Charles Shepherd and Alexander Schreiner and at the McCune School of Music under Frank W. Asper. He received additional musical training at Leipzig Conservatory, the Royal College of Music in London, the Chicago Musical College, and the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colorado. He was a faculty member at BYU for forty-three years, where he was associate professor of music, university organist, and coordinator of the organ department. His publications include works in the field of organ pedagogy as well as hymn arrangements.
