Kraus, Joseph Martin

German, 1756–1792. He studied both law and music in universities in Germany and Sweden. He obtained a position in the Swedish royal court of King Gustav III, where he pursued a successful career in spite of being a Catholic in a Protestant country, often writing music for Lutheran religious services.
