Leavitt, Marylou Cunningham
LDS. American, born 1928 in Tacoma, Washington. At age nine, she began to take her interest in writing seriously. She raised a large family and throughout her life had many opportunities to pursue her love of creative writing. She credits her conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with providing an education in many areas of composition for both Church and community, including stage productions, oral histories, and texts for longer musical compositions. She served on the Ricks College (now BYU–Idaho) administrative staff as a writer and editor for several years and was a text specialist for the 1985 hymnal. She and her husband Ralph Leavitt filled a mission to Australia in 1999–2000.
