Lowry, Robert
American, 1826–1899. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Bucknell University, became a Baptist minister, and preached throughout Pennsylvania and New York. He did not begin the study of music until the age of forty. He loved children and was a tireless Sunday School worker. His Sunday School hymnals went through several printings, and his sentimental ballad “Where Is My Wandering Boy Tonight?” was extremely popular.
