Palmer, Horatio Richmond
American, 1834–1907. A native of New York, he showed early musical talent and traveled to Italy and Germany for music study. He returned to establish himself as a teacher, editor, conductor, author, and composer. For many years he conducted the New York City Choral Union, a choir of more than four thousand voices. A Baptist minister, he was founding editor of Concordia Magazine, published in Chicago.
