Pond, Sylvanus Billings

American, 1792–1871. Born in Milford, Vermont, he became a well-known composer of Sunday School songs. He was also affiliated with the publishing house of Firth, Pond, and Company that published the compositions of Stephen Foster. He was active as a conductor of sacred music in New York, and he edited and published several hymnals.
