Prichard, Rowland Hugh
Welsh, 1811–1887, born near Bala, North Wales. A mill worker and devoted amateur musician, he inherited from his father and grandfather the tradition of the “Welsh bard” and was widely known for his fine voice. He published many fine hymn tunes in his lifetime and wrote HYFRYDOL, by far the most famous of his tunes and the one by which he is represented in our hymnal, when he was only 19 years old.
