Watkins, Vanja Louise Yorgason

LDS. American, born 1938. Vanja (pronounced VONyuh) Watkins attended schools in Ogden, Utah, and received her bachelor and master of arts degrees in music education from Brigham Young University. She then returned to Ogden to become music coordinator for the Ogden City Schools; she was also a television teacher in elementary music. She has taught music education at BYU, and she has been a stake Primary president and has served on the Primary General Board, the General Music Committee of the Church, and the 1985 Hymnbook Executive Committee. Her compositions are well known to Primary children. She and her late husband, Jack B. Watkins, are the parents of five children. She has also served as ward and stake Relief Society president, and she has taught music in the Salt Lake City Schools and in the BYU Workshop on Church Music.
