Williams, Peter
Welsh, 1772–1796, born in Carmarthenshire. Converted to Methodism as a boy, he was ordained to the Methodist ministry in 1744 and became prominent in the Methodist revival in Wales. He was controversial in his views and was dismissed from several positions, but he built a chapel on land that belonged to him in Carmarthen and continued to preach there. He published an annotated Bible and a hymnbook in Welsh.
