Wolford, Darwin K.

LDS. American, born 1936 in Logan, Utah. After graduation from Utah State University, he received his master of music and doctoral degrees from the University of Utah. He studied organ under Alexander Schreiner and Robert Cundick and composition under Leroy Robertson, Ned Rorem, and John LaMontaine. His compositions and arrangements, which include works for chorus, orchestra, piano, and organ, have been published widely and performed by the Utah Symphony, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and many other groups. He served on the General Music Committee of the Church and the 1985 Hymnbook Executive Committee and was responsible for much of the music editing for the 1985 hymnal. He served as director of organ studies at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and retired in 2005 after thirty-nine years of teaching. Besides playing the organ in the Rexburg Temple, he works on family history and biography and continues to compose music for organ, piano, and choir. He and his wife, Julie Lofgren, are the parents of five children.
