Cox, Frances Elizabeth

English, 1812–1897, born in Oxford. She published Sacred Hymns from the German in 1841, and she revised and enlarged this volume for a second edition in 1864. Known as a skilled translator of German hymn texts, she published fifty-six translations in all, together with biographical notes on the authors of these texts.
