Craven, John

LDS. English, 1929–1993, born in Doncaster. The only child of Baptist parents, both teachers, he attended boarding school in Yorkshire and later received his bachelor of music degree from the University of Glasgow. He was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Dawn R. Ansell, whom he later married. He and his wife served in many ward and stake positions. He was head of the music department at Dudley College of Education for twenty-four years and was active in many music groups as baroque violinist and continuo accompanist. He is now retired and living in Canada, and his interests include student opera direction, historical keyboard tuning systems, and the composition of organ preludes.
