Davies, Henry Walford

English, 1869–1941, born in Shropshire. After showing early talent as a singer and organist, he became a teacher at the Royal College of Music, conductor of the London Bach Choir, and professor of music at the University of Wales. He received a knighthood and was appointed master of the king’s music. An honorary doctorate was bestowed upon him in 1935 by Oxford University.
