prep time: 5 minutes, plus 2 hours to chill • yield: 12 fat bombs (1 per serving)
These savory fat bombs are great for on-the-go energy. They remind me of a savory Jell-O bite. You can easily scale this recipe up or down; all you need to remember is to use 1 tablespoon of gelatin for every 2 cups of broth.
Besides eating these as a snack, you can also use them to intensify the flavor and up the healing properties of any stew or soup that calls for bone broth. Simply throw one or two fat bombs in and reduce the amount of broth called for in the recipe by that amount. The resulting dish with also have a thicker, more luxurious texture.
1 tablespoon grass-fed powdered gelatin
2 cups homemade bone broth, any type ( see here ), warmed
special equipment:
Silicone mold with 12 (1⅞-ounce) cavities ( see here )
1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the broth and whisk to combine.
2. Place the silicone mold on a rimmed sheet pan (for easy transport). Pour the broth into the mold. Place in the fridge or freezer until the gelatin is fully set, about 2 hours. To release the fat bombs from the mold, gently push on the mold to pop them out.
3. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for several months.
