With each of his watercolor works, Daire Lynch strives to capture the essence of a person—his or her personality, his or her energy. He does this with a pared-down approach to color, using primarily French ultramarine for his compositions. According to the artist, the human essence is found “in the glint in the eyes, the corners of the mouths, the way somebody tilts his or her head. All these tiny nuances speak volumes of the subject, which I can only hope I convey in my art. For me, the core of the person is visible in the pupil; as such, though not always, I tend to make this the focal point of my works.”
