I seriously considered ending this book with a spoof exam, but I decided that if you've managed to cope properly with the exercises in this book, you will very likely already feel comfortable that you'd ace any test. On the other hand, if you are still having problems, just keep going back and rereading, and play with games and exercises meant to boost your confidence. Tarot is a skill that requires practice. If you are really stuck on some issue, consider paying a professional Reader for their help.
When I was teaching myself how to read the cards, I added a Tarot reading to the end of all my clients' astrology or palmistry readings. I explained to each client what I was doing, and that the service was free of charge. They all happily cooperated, and after about three months, I felt that I had become sufficiently comfortable to begin making a small charge for the Tarot readings.
If a reading doesn't work out immediately, leave the cards where they are on the table, ask your Questioner to clarify matters, and backtrack over the cards to see if you can pick up the story from there.
I hope that this book has answered some of the many queries I have had from people asking how to improve their ability to string the cards together to make a story. I also hope that the exercises and experiments on your friends, neighbors, and colleagues help you to gain confidence and develop your imagination and your powers of creativity. Above all, you must choose the methods that work for you and use your own experience of life.
Please remember that this book is only a guide, and not an unchanging tablet of stone. Use your intuition and have fun.
Good luck to all of you!
