A BUN FIGHT*
Mrs Watson had just taken six hot and delicious buns from the oven for the children’s tea, or so she thought. When she looked at them again, one of them had already gone. ‘You’re the limit!’ she cried to Emma and Pippa, ‘Now you won’t get any more! I shall eat them all myself!’
Then she caught herself; she had no wish to put on more weight by eating five buns she didn’t need. ‘On second thoughts, you can do some extra homework! If you can work out how to divide the buns equally between you, without removing them from their tray, with one straight cut only, then you can have them for tea. Otherwise, Fido gets them!’
Emma and Pippa were successful, in fact they each found one way to divide the buns. How did they do it?
