The two beasts were locked in battle. ‘Don’t let the beasts see you,’ Kai said to Will. ‘We need to surprise them. Hover while I get some beast data.’

‘Okay,’ said Will.

Kai took a photo of a beast on his orb. The image popped onto the Jet-Luge’s screen.

‘The Chillterratan beast you battled before is now a mega-mutant,’ Kai said to Will. ‘It is bigger and has a lot more power. I’ll check the other beast now. Then we can make some battle plans.’

Kai took a photo of the other beast. He watched as the image popped onto the screen.

‘This one has begun to change as well,’ Kai said. ‘It has ice down its back now. But it isn’t a full mega-mutant yet.’

‘Look! The other beast is going to do a four-tail attack,’ said BC. ‘You battled this beast when it was a mutant, Will. Go in and do what you did in your last battle but watch out for changes. We’ll handle the other beast. Battle team go!’

‘Sending Squirrel-bot SQ1 in now,’ said Will. ‘He’ll grab the beast by its nose.’

‘BC, fly out above the three heads,’ said Kai. ‘Keep them looking up at you. I’ll use the X-Foam Archer 2 on its arms.’

BC scratched behind his ear and his jet pack popped out onto his back. The he flew off towards the beast with three heads.

I’ll plug up the arm shooting fireballs with rocks first, thought Kai. Then I’ll dry out the arm shooting water.

Kai watched BC as he flew around the three heads. Those heads don’t know where to look first. Good job, BC. Now it’s time for me to go in.

Kai flew in and fired rock after rock into the beast’s arm shooting fireballs.

One arm blocked, he thought and then he took a quick look at SQ1.

He’s locked his tail onto the other beast’s ice nose. It’s pulled the beast’s head back. It can’t do any ice-flick attacks anymore like that. Smart move, SQ1.

Kai watched as Will’s beast tried to free itself from the nose lock. Then he saw Will fly in to shoot a beast net round its head. Nice work, thought Kai. He’ll have it asleep with the sleeping gas in no time! I’ll dry up my beast’s water arm now with the new fire shooter.

Then there was an enormous noise.

 

 

Kai looked. Will’s beast was stomping on the ice. It was angry.

Kai turned the Jet-Luge around. Then he saw the beast’s tails. He knew it was getting ready to do a triple pulver-slam attack. ‘Get away from the three pulver-slam tails, Will,’ he said. But the beast was too fast. Its three pulver-slam tails flew up and flicked Will’s jet. It was sent tumbling towards the storm land.
