To commemorate the memory of BOAC Stewardess
BARBARA JANE HARRISON
aged 22 years
who was posthumously awarded the George Cross for courage and selfless devotion to duty in the evacuation of passengers from a blazing Boeing 707 aircraft G-ARWE at Heathrow Airport on 8th April 1968
Passengers praised Miss Harrison’s calmness and courage throughout the evacuation. At the last although she could have saved herself, she gave her life attempting to help a crippled passenger to leave the aircraft
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we dedicate this plaque in thankful memory of Barbara Jane Harrison, to be a lasting memorial of she who faced the final challenge of humanity and was not found wanting.
