Decorating Cupcakes with Buttercream
Using buttercream to decorate cupcakes is a quick and easy way to give them a professional-looking finish. Various piping nozzles and techniques can be used to achieve different results.
WIDE STAR NOZZLE
To use the wide star nozzle to create a swirl, pipe buttercream from the outside to the centre ending with a point.
CLOSED STAR NOZZLE
Use the closed star nozzle to pipe buttercream in circles from the inside to the outside to form a rose.
WIDE ROUND NOZZLE
Using a wide round nozzle, pipe buttercream into the centre of the cupcake to form a large blob.
PALETTE KNIFE
Squeeze out a small amount of buttercream and use a palette knife to spread it sideways around the top of the cupcake.
