Hand-moulded Dog
/// Using light brown sugarpaste (fondant), make four little balls for the feet, a short sausage shape for the body and a blunt cone for the head. With dark brown sugarpaste, make a long tapering sausage for the tail, two long thin cones for the ears and a small ball for the nose.
/// Place the sausage shape on top of the feet and press down the corners. Make an indentation with your thumb where the head will be and brush with edible glue.
/// Take the cone shape for the head and position it on the body with it pointing slightly outwards. For the ears, squash each cone down a little, position them on the head and lift the ends so they are pointing upwards. Shape the small ball for the nose into a teardrop, make a hole in the face and position the pointed end of the teardrop into it. For the tail, make a hole in the body, curve the tapering sausage and form a point on one end to insert into the hole.
/// To finish off the dog, mark some whiskers with a cocktail stick or toothpick, then paint the eyes and eyebrows using black food colouring.
