Hand-moulded Teddy Bear

/// Colour most of the sugarpaste (fondant) brown. Make a large blunt teardrop for the body, an oval shape for the head and four teardrops for the legs and arms, making the arms a little longer. Use a small amount of brown sugarpaste for the snout and create two small teardrops for the ears. Using a small amount of black sugarpaste, make three little balls for the eyes and the nose.

/// To create the teddy’s legs, pinch the wide part of each teardrop to shape it into a foot. Pressing to flatten, attach the snout and then the nose and eyes onto the head using edible glue.

/// Position the body onto the legs and attach the arms, curving them around, to either side of the body using edible glue. Now gently insert a short piece of spaghetti into the bear’s body. Make two holes towards the top of the head with the end of a paintbrush and fit the ears into these, squashing them slightly once they are in place.

/// Indent a smile on the snout with a scallop tool. Carefully lower the head onto the spaghetti and attach it to the body using edible glue. Leave the teddy to dry before placing it on your cake or cupcake.
