A classic recipe everyone should have.
4 to 5 potatoes, peeled and boiled
2 T. butter, softened
1/4 to 1/2 c. milk
salt and pepper to taste
1 lb. ground beef
1 tomato, chopped
6 mushrooms, sliced
2 T. fresh parsley, chopped
1 T. tomato paste
1/4 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 c. brown gravy
10-oz. pkg. frozen peas, thawed
Mash potatoes, butter, milk, salt and pepper together; set aside. Brown beef in a skillet; drain. Add tomato, mushrooms, parsley, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and gravy; stir to mix. Add peas and simmer for 5 minutes; pour into an ungreased 13"x9" baking pan. Spread mashed potatoes over top; bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
A side dish time-saver. Purchase packaged mashed potatoes at the grocery store. Heat up, blend in sour cream and cream cheese to taste, then heat up again until well blended...so yummy!
