I like this with buttery, whipped potatoes...comfort food!
1 lb. ground beef
6-oz. can tomato paste
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 t. hot pepper sauce
1/8 t. dried oregano
1 onion, chopped
1/2 c. plus 2 T. butter, melted and divided
8-oz. container small curd cottage cheese
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. cream cheese, softened
8-oz. pkg. egg noodles, cooked and divided
Brown beef in a large skillet over medium heat; drain. Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and oregano; heat through and set aside. In a separate skillet over medium heat, sauté onion until translucent in 2 tablespoons butter; place in a medium bowl. Add cottage cheese, sour cream and cream cheese; blend well and set aside. Place half the noodles in an ungreased 2-quart casserole dish. Drizzle with 1/4 cup butter; spread with cheese mixture. Toss remaining noodles with remaining butter and spread over cheese mixture. Top with meat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until bubbly. Serves 4 to 6.
Do the unexpected! Brand new terra cotta saucers lined with tea towels make fun platters for serving bread, buns or biscuits.
